Upgrading to Kubius Pro

Kubius comes in two editions. Standard covers everyday cluster work - browsing every resource type with live updates, single-pod logs, dependency graphs, YAML and diffs, drain & delete, desktop notifications, and multiple windows for side-by-side clusters. Pro adds the features built for going deeper:

  • Metrics & right-sizing - CPU/memory charts with history, and data-driven requests / limits you can apply in place
  • Cluster dashboards - a whole-cluster health and capacity overview
  • Combined pod logs - one interleaved stream across every pod of a workload
  • Port forwarding - forward any pod or service port, tracked in a floating tray
  • Terminal access - an interactive shell into any container
  • ArgoCD integration - Applications, ApplicationSets and Projects with sync/health and actions
  • Node diagnostics - a rule-based health report for a node (OOM, kubelet flapping, pressure, taints)

How you’ll see Pro features

On a Standard licence the Pro features stay visible so you know they exist:

  • Pro entries in the sidebar (Dashboard, Right-Sizing, ArgoCD) carry a small PRO pill. Selecting one shows an upgrade screen in place of the feature.
  • Pro actions elsewhere (port forwarding, terminal, combined logs) open a short upgrade prompt when you use them.
  • Settings → License shows your current plan and an Upgrade button when you’re on Standard.

How to upgrade

  1. Open Settings → License (or click Upgrade on any Pro prompt).
  2. The button opens your Kubius account in the browser at the upgrade page.
  3. Sign in if you aren’t already, confirm the price, and pay.
  4. Back in the app, your licence re-validates automatically and the Pro features unlock - no reinstall, and your existing devices stay activated.

What it costs

Upgrading is only available on a Standard licence, and it upgrades the licence you already have - your Pro access runs until your current expiry date, the same date Standard would have ended.

Because of that, you only pay for the time you’ll actually have Pro. The upgrade is pro-rated: the price is based on the difference between Pro and Standard (currently €20 (subject to change)) scaled to the portion of your licence term that remains. With most of your term left you pay close to the full amount; with only a little left you pay much less.

A few practical notes:

  • A small minimum charge (currently €3 (subject to change)) applies, so very small pro-rated amounts stay worth processing.
  • The upgrade is offered when you have at least 14 days (subject to change) left on your licence. With less than that remaining, it’s better value to renew rather than upgrade - you’ll be pointed to a new purchase instead.
  • Upgrading does not extend your expiry date. If you want a longer Pro term, renew when your licence is up for renewal.
  • Lifetime licences and licences that have already expired aren’t eligible for the pro-rated upgrade - purchase a Pro licence directly instead.

Listed prices are net; VAT/Tax is added on top at checkout where it applies (the upgrade page itemises the subtotal, any VAT, and the total). All pricing is shown and confirmed in the browser before you pay; nothing is charged from inside the app. Payments are handled by our payment provider - Kubius never sees your card details.

Prices and thresholds above are indicative and subject to change. The exact, current figure for your licence is always the one shown on the upgrade page before you confirm.

Already own a Pro licence? Switch this Mac instead

Upgrading changes the licence you’re already on. But if your account holds a separate Pro licence - for example you bought Pro outright rather than upgrading - you don’t need to pay again to use it on this Mac. When Kubius notices a Pro licence on your account that this Mac isn’t using, Settings → License shows a “Switch to Pro” card instead of the upgrade box.

Clicking Switch to Pro moves this Mac from its current (Standard) licence to your Pro licence: it frees the device slot on the Standard licence and activates it on the Pro one, so you’re never double-counted, and your other devices are unaffected. Kubius only ever offers to switch a Mac up to a higher tier - never down.

For choosing which licence a Mac uses when you first sign in, see Signing in & your licences.
