Signing in & your licences

Kubius is licensed per account. You sign in once on each Mac, and the app activates that device against a licence you own. There’s no licence key to copy or type - signing in does everything.

Signing in (linking a Mac)

1. On first launch (or after signing out), Kubius shows a sign-in screen with a short code.
2. Your browser opens the /link page on the Kubius website. Sign in with your account email and password.
3. Check the code on the page matches the one in the app, then Approve.
4. Kubius activates this Mac and unlocks - no key, no restart.

Each licence allows a fixed number of devices (Macs). The current count is shown in Settings → License as “Devices - 1 of 3 activated”.

Choosing which licence to use

If your account holds more than one licence of different types - say a Standard and a Pro - the /link page asks which one to use before you approve. You’ll see a dropdown listing each licence as:

Pro - 5 Jan 2027 - 1/3

That reads as tier - expiry date - devices in use / device limit, so you can tell them apart at a glance. Pick the one you want this Mac to use and approve.

If you only have a single licence (or several of the same type), Kubius links the best one automatically and doesn’t ask - there’s nothing to choose.

Moving a Mac between licences. If this Mac is already on your Standard licence and you pick your Pro licence, Kubius moves the device for you: it frees the slot on the Standard licence and activates it on the Pro one, so a device is never counted twice.

Your licence at a glance

Settings → License shows the licence this Mac is using:

• Package - Kubius Standard or Kubius Pro
• Plan - Lifetime, Annual or Monthly
• Expires - the end date (or “Never” for lifetime), with a heads-up when it’s close
• Devices - how many of your device slots are in use
• Account email - the account this Mac is signed in to

If a higher tier is available on your account, a Switch to Pro card appears here (see Upgrading to Kubius Pro). On a Standard licence you’ll instead see an Upgrade option.

Your devices

You can see the devices activated on each of your licences from your account on the website (Account → Licenses), along with how many of your slots are in use. Each licence allows a fixed number of devices; once a Mac activates, it holds one of those slots. If you need a hand managing devices on your licence, get in touch with support.

Signing out

Settings → License → Sign out signs this Mac out of Kubius. Signing out keeps this Mac on your licence - it doesn’t change your device count - so signing back in with the same account reactivates instantly. Sign out is simply for stepping away from the app on a shared Mac, or for switching to a different account.

If your licence is no longer active

If a licence expires or is no longer valid, Kubius locks to a sign-in screen and Settings → License shows a Purchase a licence button. Your plan details are hidden until a valid licence is active again. See Upgrading to Kubius Pro for buying Pro, or sign in with a different account that holds an active licence.
