Updating Kubius

Kubius keeps itself up to date with a light, optional mechanism - it never interrupts your work or updates anything without you choosing to.

How it works

  • Automatic checks - while you use Kubius it quietly checks whether a newer build is available (on launch, and as it talks to the licensing service). There’s nothing to configure.
  • The update card - when a newer build exists, a small floating card appears (bottom-right) saying “There is an update for Kubius”. Click Download to get it, or Later to dismiss it until the next version ships. It’s purely advisory.
  • Settings ▸ Updates - shows your current version and a Check for Updates button if you’d rather check on demand. There’s nothing here you must do; the app is fully usable without ever updating.

Downloading and installing

Clicking Download opens your Kubius account in the browser and starts the download of the right build for your Mac:

  • You may be asked to sign in first - the download is served through your account so you always get the build that matches your licence and release track.
  • The correct architecture (Apple Silicon or Intel) is selected for you.
  • If you’re on the early-access track, you’ll receive preview builds; everyone else gets stable releases.

To install: quit Kubius, open the downloaded .dmg, and drag the new Kubius into your Applications folder, replacing the old one. (The app can’t replace itself while it’s running - that’s why the card mentions exiting.)

Release tracks

By default you’re on the stable track. If you’ve been invited to early access, you can opt in from Settings ▸ Updates to receive preview builds before they’re released widely - with an off switch to go back to stable any time.

Nothing is forced

Updates are never required and never automatic. If a build can’t be reached or you dismiss the card, Kubius carries on exactly as before - your work is never blocked by an update.
