A maintained, native alternative to Octant
Octant is no longer developed. Kubius picks up where it left off - a fast, native desktop Kubernetes client with live watch streams, logs, metrics and cost - actively maintained and built for macOS.
Works with Google GKE, Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, DigitalOcean, self-managed & more · macOS Sonoma (14) or later
The Octant idea, kept alive and native
Actively maintained
Octant was archived in 2022. Kubius is under active development, with regular releases and an in-app updater - so the tool you rely on keeps working.
Genuinely native
A Swift app for macOS rather than a local web server you open in a browser - it launches instantly and stays light.
Live by default
Every resource list is a watch stream, updating the moment the cluster changes - no manual refresh.
Logs & metrics built in
Follow logs, and read CPU/memory history as real charts - without wiring up Prometheus.
Cost & right-sizing
See spend by cluster and namespace and get right-sizing recommendations - things Octant never did.
Your kubeconfig, as-is
Connects with the credentials you already have, including GKE, EKS and AKS auth plugins.
Simple, one-time pricing
Pay once. No subscription.
One-time licence from €49 - no subscription. 14-day free trial, no card required.
Free 14-day trial · macOS Sonoma (14) or later · No agents, nothing to install in-cluster
Questions, answered
Why do I need an Octant alternative?
Octant was archived by VMware in 2022 and is no longer maintained, so it lags behind new Kubernetes versions and won't get fixes. Kubius is actively developed and gives you a native, live view of your clusters with more built in.
Is Kubius similar to Octant to use?
The idea is the same - a visual, resource-by-resource view of your cluster from the desktop - but Kubius is a native macOS app (not a local web server), with live watch streams, logs, metrics, cost and right-sizing included.
Will it work with my existing setup?
Yes - it reads your kubeconfig and reuses your cloud auth (GKE, EKS, AKS, DigitalOcean), so it connects to the same clusters Octant did.
Can I try it first?
Yes, there's a 14-day free trial with no card required.
